I`ve dowloaded the GrADS 1.8s11 binaries for my Fedora Core 4 distro.

Now I`m a complete newb when it comes to linux, so much of this is trial and error. Rather than working from root, I created a new user called grads.

I have unpacked the binaries tar folder, and placed them in the grads home directory so that the path looks like
/home/grads/bin

gradsc is executing, I can open the example model file from the tutorial pages. However, it throws up errors because it cannot find the data files (fonts, hires, lowres etc).

I`ve placed the data files in
/home/grads/data

and tried
setenv GADDIR /home/grads/data

But bash throws up and error saying command unknown. It doesn`t recognise setenv.

So running grads from the home directory where should I be placing these data files (fonts etc)?

Sorry for my poor wording.

Thankyou.
