[gradsusr] read defined variable as value

Dear all,
i need a little assistance on how I could read a defined variable like a
value
eg
define t = max(max(tp,lon=1,lon=last),lat=1,lat=last
what i want to do is to plot the result of t
eg t = 3, so i want to
set cmin t
where t is the value of the defined variable
so if
d tp
it will consider the value of t
