[gradsusr] how open nc and ctl file in one scripts

Hi dear usrI want draw wind profile from data from ECMWF data and wrf model output file . ECMWF is nc file and model dara is ctl file.When I draw each one, they have no problem
, but when i open both of them in the one file  plot , there is a error for one of them 

Data Request Error: Invalid grid coordinates
  World coordinates convert to non-integer  grid coordinates
    Variable = u  Dimension = 0
how i could draw one plot for both of themthanks
