[gradsusr] Trouble using gribmap on grb2 data

Joe,

It seems that you are using a gribmap does not understand grib2.
Possibilities are

1) you are using an old gribmap (v1.x) which does not have grib2 support.
2) you are using a gribmap (v2.x) which was compiled without grib2 support.
    Type grads to see whether gribmap/grads supports grib2.

You need a gribmap v2.x which includes grib2 support.  You can download
many precompiled systems from

    http://cola.gmu.edu/grads/

Of course, both gribmap and GrADS both need grib2 support.

By the way, the NOAA R&D supercomputer that I use has a
problem with GrADS.  The default GrADS module does not support
grib2.  You have to search hard to find a GrADS module that supports
grib2.
