Hi Bamba I were having the same problem with openGrads, but when I changed the version of grads it works well
this is the way to do
d variable
draw title "the grax of x vs y"
draw xlab
draw ylab
printim c:/your drive/imagename.png
this works well with other version of grads HDF

Dear all,
I have wind fields covering only
the African domain and I want to calculate the velocity potential.
To my knowledge, the classical ?fish?
algorithm under the opengrads version works for a global domain.
Any suggestion?

Dear Abayomi,
thank for your help. I have tried with the script you suggested but it doesn't work.
the problem is still the same:
The tittle and the legend doesn't appear and the figure is not well saved (only a small part of figure appear on the png file).
no error message is seen.

All you need to do is include the following in your script:
set string?color <justification <thickness <rotation>>>
set strsiz?hsiz <vsiz>
draw string?x y string
For example:
'set string 1 tc 5 1'
'set strsiz 0.14 0.14'
'draw string 1.14 10.56 (a) Characteristic of xxxxx'
Modify the values, especially in set strsiz and draw string to suite your purpose.

Because the grads in my computer couldn't do the process of converting I did it in another computer and transfered it to my computer. The process of converting was as follows:
$ grib2ctl.pl grib_file >grib_file.ctl
$ gribmap -i grib_file.ctl -0
I have attached my fnl file, idx and ctl files.
