This is may the reason why Microsoft disabled it by default: they messed up
their implementation. Since WIndows 95 and up to very recently the
loopback functionality always worked great.
The real solution for this problem is to rewrite the grads graphics
interface using the native Win32 API (or else have cairo working
exclusively with a Windows surface). Any experienced Windows developer out
there that would like to help out with this?
