Hi,

ncdump is not work in GrADS environment. if you  have installed ncdump in
your system,
try this command for create ascii format: ncdump -l 100000 /path of nc file/
ifile.nc > ofile.txt(any suffix or without suffix).
If you want to do some changes in ascii file and transform it again to nc
file, use this command:
ncgen -b /path of ascii file/ifile > ofile.nc
