Dear Sreevani,
             Which part you want to convert into ascii.?. from which lat to
lon, and which level and which date. here is a script which will convert the
point data into ascii. Kindly try with this.

'sdfopen uwnd.2006.nc'
tt=1
while (tt<=31)
'set lat 20'
'set lon 80'
'set t 'tt
'd uwnd'
te=subwrd(result,4)
w=write('result.txt',te)
tt=tt+1
