I need you to run a few tests.
1) Reboot your machine (very important); do NOT start your cygwin. Start
grads from the [Start] menu (or click on the desktop icon). Does it work?
2) Assuming 1) works, now start bash on a cmd.exe window (do not use rxvt or
any other emulator). Start grads. Does it work?
3) From your cygwin prompt type
$ uname -a
This will give your cygwin version. If not using the latest, upgrade.
