Limitation of variable name length in NetCDF file

Hi Shailendra,

You can create a .ctl file describing dataset.  Below is one example of 
my .ctl describing netcdf files.
Note that the variable v is GRADS's name for your meridional_wind_speed.


DSET Ax2005082700_%f3_%n2
DTYPE netcdf
UNDEF 9.E36
OPTIONS TEMPLATE
XDEF 101 LINEAR 0 5.0
YDEF 1  LINEAR 1 1
ZDEF 20 LEVELS 1000.0 950.0   900.0   850.0   800.0   750.0   700.0   
600.0   500.0   450.0   400.0   350.0   300.0   250.0   225.0   200.0

TDEF 10000 LINEAR 00z27AUG2005 5mn

meridional_wind_speed=>v     20   t,z,y,x  v
ENDVARS

You can open this ctl by 'open' command.
