Plotting station data

Dear Grads users,

I want to plot barbs from a .txt file with the following structure:

lat | lon | u | v | date

Which is the easiest way to crete the .dat file in order to plot the wind barbs?

I have already a fortan file and the relative .ctl file, which created by Dr. Wang Xiucheng (attached files), but I have problem in compilation process, due to the recordtype=stream command
Also, I have f90 and f77 platform......

Can you please give me any help??
