[gradsusr] Is there a way to query which particular file in a template is being used at a given time step?

All,

     I'm using a template to plot a time series of files which, sadly,
do not have the exact same time interval between them. Since there's no
way I know of to get TDEF to handle non-constant time intervals, I tried
a kludge of using the query command in the script to grab the time stamp
from the names of the individual files in the template as they are used.
However, I can't seem to find a way to make the query command do this;
'query file' just returns the name of the file template with the wildcards.

     Any thoughts on a reasonably elegant way forward?  Thanks!

Cheers,
