[gradsusr] Problem about sdfopen TRMM opendap data

Dear all,

I used to sdfopen TRMM opendap data from  NASA website https://disc2.gesdisc.eosdis.nasa.gov/opendap/
After TRMM update the netcdf file to netcdf-4, I can't sdfopen the files now. The error message is:

Error: nc_open failed to open file https://disc2.gesdisc.eosdis.nasa.gov:443/opendap/TRMM_L3/TRMM_3B42_Daily.7/2002/05/3B42_Daily.20020504.7.nc4
NetCDF: I/O failure
gadsdf: Couldn't ingest SDF metadata.

I know I can download the file and write a control file, but it will us a lot of disk space.
Does anyone have a solution about using sdfopen to open TRMM opendap data?
