Hi, Daniele —
The number of levels is not limited, but the length of each line must be less than 512 characters long. Try splitting your big ZDEF entry over multiple lines, like this:

zdef 918 levels 1017 1016 1015 1014
 1013 1012 1011 1010
 1009 1008

… and so on. The number of levels you put in each line is up to you, as long as the length of that line doesn’t exceed 512.

Dear GrADS Users,

I'd like to know which is the maximum level number
that can be written in a ctl file with the option zdef...levels.

I.e.
ZDEF 92 LEVELS 1017 1007 997 987 977.... works correctly

but

ZDEF 918 LEVELS 1017 1016 1015 1014 1013....doesn't work.

The problem is that zdef record may not have more than 255 characters?

Thank you in advance.
