I am pretty sure the latest build of GrADS uses Wesley’s Ubuntu/Debian release of the jasper library. Can you read the file with COLA’s GrADS 2.1.a3?

Brian,
I better append to my previous answer. I found that the latest Ubuntu/Debian release of the
Jasper library fixed the seg faults in wgrib2. This release is included with the source code
of wgrib2 v2.0.3. Third parties often compile wgrib2 using different releases of the Jasper
library. YMMV

Brain,
Try using wgrib2 v2.0.3 because it has an updated jpeg2000 library.

Hi,
Has anyone successfully managed to use the Arome 0.01 degree grib2 files in Open GrADS 2.1 (or GrADS) which Meteo France has very recently started making available? I'm able to create the .ctl file and open but when trying to plot a variable Open GrADS quits and in the log file there is a stack overflow error, similar to this:
Exception: STATUS_STACK_OVERFLOW at eip=709D4752
eax=00017CA0 ebx=F9AA0008 ecx=00092320 edx=F9AA0008 esi=00000000 edi=00000001
ebp=00289348 esp=00289318 program=C:\OpenGrADS\Contents\Cygwin\Versions\2.1.a2.oga.1\i686\grads.exe, pid 13980, thread main
cs=0023 ds=002B es=002B fs=0053 gs=002B ss=002B
I've also tried using wgrib2 to:
1) create a new lower resolution grid
2) create a NetCDF file to see whether this would be a workaround
Both of these operations fail and a similar stack overflow error is recorded.
You can download Arome grib2 files here
https://donneespubliques.meteofrance.fr/?fond=produit&id_produit=131&id_rubrique=51
Note: The problems I'm having ONLY apply to the 0.01deg data, 0.025deg works fine.
I'm assuming the size of the grid is causing the problems. Any ideas or workarounds?
Thanks
Brian
