Brian,
I better append to my previous answer. I found that the latest
Ubuntu/Debian release of the
Jasper library fixed the seg faults in wgrib2. This release is included
with the source code
of wgrib2 v2.0.3. Third parties often compile wgrib2 using different
releases of the Jasper
library. YMMV
