Stuart,

So I'm assuming you want to calculate rain and snow mix, not ice pellets?
The GFS model includes categorical rain, ice pellets, snow, and freezing
rain (1=yes, 0=no), so you should be able to use that information to
estimate a mix of rain and snow.
