No worries,
I just had a brainstorm and got it sorted - I changed my ccols and clevs to
the following:
'set clevs -10 -9 -8 -7 -6 -5 -4 -3 -2 -1 0 1 50'
'set ccols 50 51 52 53 54 70 55 56 57 58 59 -1 -1'
So anything above 1 will be set to a value of -1 which is transparent.
Working a treat now! I just gotta work out transparency then will be good to
go.

GrADS is picking up the grid size of your input data set. I suppose you
could use "lterp" with a fake grid that is really high res, make a new
variable interpolated to that higher res, then display that.

Hi Mike,
I think the -poly option will produce transparency at missing values, so you
will need to set values that are currently displayed as grey to "missing".
You can do this using the grads function "maskout".
