[gradsusr] Rain average per basin

Hello for all, 

I have a question:

I'm working with precmerge data and I would like to know how to calculate the average monthly rainfall of a specific basin (using the shapefile of the basin).  
I am beginner user, I have managed to generate simple averages maps (historical, daily and monthly), but I don't found nothing about average basin rain 


I would be grateful if anybody can help me
