[gradsusr] GEM Precipitation issue

Hi all, 

I am currently developing GEM charts (25km) and I see that function
variable APCPsfc is actually accumulated precipitation. Is there a way
to get single 3 hour precipitation rates without the accumulation. There
is also a PRATE option but this seem to be full of undefined values.
