Oh I reply to my same message saying that I have version 3.6.1 of WRF-NMM, the latest from WRF-NMM website

Hi Angelo, I have been working hard for creating my grads script, so I don't think I will change it :P
Anyway, isn't really there a file to modify for correcting this bug? :(
And where should I check to see if there are other variables that cannot be plotted by grads with WRF-NMM?

Thanks and have a good day,Giacomo

hi Giacomo;WRF 3.7 output breaks the UPP grib output for visibility both in ARW than in the NMM core solverthe obtained 2D array is populated by a constant number. I did not verified if this UPP bug affects only a microphysics scheme or more than one neither i did not tested all of the UPP version
I don't know if a fix is available, i generally avoid to postprocess WRF output in order to minimize I/O footprint in our systems (we work with very large domain). I use pygrads and netCDF4 python binding for plotting maps.

Hi, I have a problem plotting surface visibility only:I'm using this code:........'clear''set gxout shaded''color 1 30 1 -kind steelblue->cyan->green->yellow->orange''d VISsfc/1000''cbarn'........
But everything is blank on the maps.The surface visibility is in the ctl files as:VISsfc 0 20,1,0 ** surface Visibility [m]so it does exist. Since it's in meters, I have divided all by 1000 to report in km (but also in meters it does not work).
What could I do?Thanks,
Giacomo
