[gradsusr] Z coordinate conversion from Pa to mb, known Issue with 2.0.2?

Jennifer,

  After a month long warning I changed today the defult grads version at
our office from 2.0.1.oga.1 to 2.0.2.oga.1 and the transition didn't go
well. Our pressure level files have the following level coordinate variable:

double lev(lev) ;

lev:long_name = "vertical level" ;

lev:units = "hPa" ;

However, when I open this file in grads 2.0.2 I get this message:

ga-> sdfopen GEOS.fp.fcst.inst3_3d_asm_Np.20140612_12+20140616_0900.V01.nc4

Scanning self-describing file:
GEOS.fp.fcst.inst3_3d_asm_Np.20140612_12+20140616_0900.V01.nc4

SDF file GEOS.fp.fcst.inst3_3d_asm_Np.20140612_12+20140616_0900.V01.nc4 is
open as file 1

LON set to 0 360

LAT set to -90 90

LEV set to 10 10

Time values set: 2014:6:16:9 2014:6:16:9

E set to 1 1

Notice: Z coordinate pressure values have been converted from Pa to mb

And nothing works because grads mistakenly thinks that "hPa" is "Pa" and
messes up the vertical coordinate system. This problen makes 2.0.2
unusable for us.

I verified that this problem has been fixed in 2.1.a2. While I could make
2.1.a2 the default, it would be a good idea to have the latest stable
release as a fallback. Do you happen to have a (source code) patch for this
unit conversion problem in 2.0.2?

  Thanks,

     Arlindo
