[gradsusr] NARR Dataset - Precipitation

As far as I understand the APCP is a 3 hourly accumulated precipitation
field so there will be no data for forecast time t+0. You need to plot
data from t+3 or beyond. I'm not sure how the categoricals are
calculated but they may be derived from the accumulated field which will
give the same result if that is so.

Hello,

 

I downloaded data from the NARR model and I'm able to extract point data
for all variables, except precipitation amount (APCP) and categorical
precipitation types (CFRZR, CICEP, CRAIN, CSNOW). When I try to plot the
precipitation amount data, it is saying "Cannot contour grid - all
undefined values", but when I run wgrib on the files, it is giving me a
range of values for those variables.

 

I would appreciate any insight.
