[gradsusr] plotting long variable names

Thanks Ryan and Ricardo. It looks like the truncated "m" was my
problem. I never thought to check it manually from the command line
with the "q file" because other variables were working, and I've never
run across an instance where the variable name in the control file was
truncated like that. I'll know for next time though. At least the
solution is very easy! It looks like GrADS has a hard limit of 15
characters for a variable name then, but at least it will still plot.
Thanks again for the assist!

Don,
I used the previous version of g2ctl (0.0.8.7) + opengrads 2.0.1 to create the control and idx.
mxuphl5000_2000 0 0,7,199,2 ** 5000-2000 m above ground Hourly Maximum of Updraft Helicity over layer 2km to 5 km AGL [m2/s2]
The variable plotted fine for t > 1, as the variable isn't defined at the analysis time.
The control file also includes the "m" at the end of the variable but when the file is opened, it is truncated.

Hi Don,
have you already tried to change the names (example: MXUPHL50002000m for
MXUPHL5000_2000m)? After that you have to run gribmap again. It seems that
grads doesn't accept underscores in var names.
Hope this helps,
Ricardo
