This may be a permissions problem on your PCs or across your network.
GrADS should work perfectly well across a network like this.

Subject: [gradsusr] Help required in execution of GrADS script on remote
data (elaborated)
Hey All,
I requested for help in execution of grads script on the data placed on
a different database server. More information regarding the problem is
as under.
1. I am using GrADS on windows OS, XP more often but Windows 7 is also
used
2. I am using GrADS version 2.0
3. GRIB-2 data placed on different machine.
4. Problem more detailed:
I have around 30 GB raw GRIB -2 format data obtained from HRM
(High Resolution Model). I have to get weather data against parameters
(Min Temperature, Max Temperature, Mean Temperature, Wind Speed, Wind
Direction and Humidity etc.) If I run scripts on the data placed locally
D:, E: or F: drive, I can get data against the parameters described
above without any problem. As data is huge and I want to place raw data
on different machine and over-write on daily basis with grads 2.0
installed on different machine and run the same GrADS scripts for remote
data. But when I try to get data from the data placed on different
machine, in my scenario database server, data is not obtained
successfully.
For example if I open ctl file on local drive with command in script.gs,
'open D:/MetData/hff00z09march2012.ctl' works fine where, D: is local
drive.
If I try it mapping a network drive on the local PC but still it didn't
work like,
'open Z:/MetData/hff00z09march2012.ctl' doesn't works where, Z: is
remote database server drive.
I hope, information is adequate to answer my problem, if still I am
missing anything please let me know. If anyone faced this kind of
problem or can help me to resolve this issue I would be very thankful !!
Thanks in advance,
Best Regards,
Jamil
