[gradsusr] Plotting Annual Average

Dear All,
I have mean monthly NCEP data set of air temperature from 1948 to 2012. I want to see the annual trend of air temperature for which I want to plot a line graph showing a single averaged value against a year. Can anyone help me that how can I do this.
I shall be very thankful.
