[gradsusr] Issue with g2ctl or empty GRIB files?

Hello,

I am using GrADS Version 2.0.a9 on a Linux machine.

I have used g2ctl (GRIB 1 version) to convert NAM 12km GRIB 1 files to .ctl
files to be read into GrADS. The 00hr and 06hr forecasts from the 00Z and
06Z runs on August 27, 2011 (available here:
http://nomads.ncdc.noaa.gov/data/meso-eta-hi/201108/20110827/) are
successfully converted and plotted, but the 09hr forecast and beyond are
converted but create -9.99e+08's throughout all variables within the .ctl
file.

I do not know if this is a g2ctl problem or if this is a problem with
"empty" data files on the NOMADS server. I do a wgrib on the NAM GRIB 1
files and cannot see any problems as far as I know.

This may be a NOMADS data problem, but I have contacted them multiple times
with no reply. It may also be a g2ctl issue, but I figured I may be able to
gain some help from this GrADS Users Forum. Has anyone encountered a
similar issue? See details below.

This is an example listing of the .ctl, .grb, and .idx files that I use to
read into GrADS:

nam_218_20110827_0600_048.ctl

When I run GrADS and open the .ctl file, set gxout print, and try to
display a variable (msletmsl shown here), I get all Undefined values
(-9.99e+08):
