[gradsusr] using the user defined extension particularly advection

Good morning:

 I recently installed grads-2.0.a8.oga.1 from
http://sourceforge.net/projects/opengrads/files/grads2/.  However, I am
having trouble setting up the use of the user defined functions.
Instructions for this are found here:

I have grads installed in my home directory: /Users/jonathawsmith/

My system uses bash
Can anyone elaborate more on what files do we need to make the changes like:

export GAUDXT=$GABIN/gex/udxt

Also can anyone provide some instruction on the grads directory I
should execute Ben-Jei Tsuang's
Collection of GrADS v1.9 Extensions  from.  I am particularly
interested in using the
advection functions.
