If you google for 'junk bytes site:gradsusr.org' you will find references stating to upgrade to version 2.0.a9. See http://www.iges.org/grads/downloads.html

If that does not work, list the CTL file and the source of the grib file.

Subject: [gradsusr] Problem using gribmap

Hi,

I have a problem with grads version 2.0.a8.
I have to display GRIB2 files from model GFS, so I create a descriptor file using g2ctl.
But when I apply gribmap :

gribmap -e -v -i "/var/test03.ctl"
Open Error: Data file type invalid
--> The invalid description file record is:
 --> dtype grib2
The data file was not opened.
Grads was installed with Debian repository "apt-get install grads". Can you help me ?
I've tried to compile Grads but :

Checking in system locations for grib2 libraries ...
checking grib2.h usability... no
checking grib2.h presence... no
checking for grib2.h... no
- grib2 disabled
GrADS will be built with:

- GUI disabled
- readline disabled
- geotiff disabled
- shapefile disabled
+ printim enabled
- grib2 disabled
- hdf4 disabled
- hdf5 disabled
- netcdf disabled
- OPeNDAP disabled
grib2scan will not be built

I don't know how enable GRIB2 librairies, but I've installed wgrib2.

Sorry for my bad English,
Thanks,

Frederic
