[gradsusr] C or FORTRAN code to read directly grads file

Hi everybody,

I need to extract several variables from many grads files in order to
process them later with a C code.
Using directly grads scriting language is resulting too slow since there
are loops over lat, lon, vertical levels and time.
I am wondering if there is any C or FORTRAN code available so that I can
read directly the binary files using the info from the ctl and hence skip
the grads intermediate step.
