Dear Rupesh,
Your current dimension environment may include dimension values or ranges (often in Z or T) that are outside the range of valid dimension values for your file #2. Until you change it, the dimension environment is set automatically by grads, based on the dimension ranges associated with the first file you open. Before displaying tmp.2, use the command 'set dfile 2', then 'q dim' and check for grid coordinates that are out of bounds (e.g. if Z and/or T are negative, non-integer or very large). You may need to change the dimension environment so that it does not extend beyond the limits of valid data in file 2, e.g.
'set dfile 2'
'q dim'
...
'set z 1'
'set t 1'
'd tmp.2'
It's also a bad idea to define a variable to have the same name as a data variable in any of the files you have open. For example, file 2 has a variable 'tmp', so don't define a variable with that name. Use 'tmp1' or some other name.

Dear sir,
thanks for reply..
please see following sentences,
ga -> open D:/g1.ctl ! I open description file of model data having variable ' t'
and resolution 0.7 degree X 0.7 degree . !
ga -> tmp=re2(t,1) ! ' t ' is a variable of model output. I converted it in
1degree x 1 degree data in GraDS 2.0 !
ga -> sdfopen D:/13jan2002.nc ! now i open NCEP 1degree x degree data
having variable tmp !
ga -> d tmp.2
! error : grads window shows " Entire Grid is
or undefined " !
ga -> d tmp -tmp.2
Sir didn't understand , why does grads window show " Entire Grid is undefined " ?
please help me.
Regards,
Rupesh

To just plot one on top of another is no problem. Just open each file (or appropriate control file) in grads then plot tm2.1 then plot tm2.2 (tm2 being whatever your temperature variable is called). If you actually want to plot the difference, you have to interpolate. I believe there is a built in re2 function in grads 2.0, in older versions you have to use the regrid2 udf. There are lots of messages about these routines in the grads user list archive (which should be moved to the new location by now?).

Dear Grads users,
I have to compare model output of temperature with NCEP 1degree x 1 degree data . But model output of temperature is in binary format having resolution 0.7degree x 0.7 degree and NCEP data is in Grib or .nc format having resolution 1degree x 1 degree .
Can we plot , NCEP 1degree x 1 degree minus model output of temperature in GrADS.
I use Grads version 1.9b4 on linux machine
Thanks so much!
