[gradsusr] problem with 3D figure

thanks for your information, it helps me a alot. but i stil have a question, is it i should sdfopen the original .nc file, then only xdfopen the .ctl file??

this happens sometimes, when the netcdf file does not follow a certain standard. You have to create a small control-file and open the file with the commmand xdfopen.
It is all well described in the GraDS documentation index under "xdfopen":
