Hello guys,

| I have used QSCAT data in the past, and I am glad to share my past
| experience with you. I downloaded QSCAT data from the Remote Sensing
| Systems web site at (http://www.ssmi.com). The QSCAT data are encoded
| in single byte values, not NETCDF format.

I'm not sure if this is what you want, but you might want to
use the archive at APDRC/IPRC, U of Hawaii:

  http://apdrc.soest.hawaii.edu/dods/public_data/satellite_product/QSCAT

It's a DODS server, so that you can use the data straightaway as

  ga-> sdfopen http://apdrc.soest.hawaii.edu:80/dods/public_data/satellite_product/QSCAT/qscat_clima

for example, or save it locally as a netCDF file (I presume).

Regards,
Ryo
