Which version of GrADS is this? Cygwin puts aside a chunk of shared memory
for doing its thing. If your machine is short of memory it could be a
problem. Other possibility is the presence of more than one cygwin1.dll in
your path. If you have cygwin separately installed on your windows box is
advised that you remove the cygwin1.dll that ships with GrADS and use the
one in your system (provided your grads build is is not too old, say
v1.8SL11). A fresh reboot is always a good idea after you remove
cygwin1.dll.
