gribmap error using GFS Model

Your problem may very well have something to do with cnvgrib. But
there is not enough information in your message to diagnose anything.
Does wgrib or gribscan work on your grib file? Where did you get the
original grib2 file? How did you convert it to grib1? You mention you
are running a very old version of GrADS -- what operating system are
you running it on?
