My suggestion would be for you to first let lats4d produce a table
automatically (the file name is ".grads.lats.table") and then rename this
file and make the necessary changes to make it WRF compatible. There are
comments in the automatically generated file. Most likely you will be
editing the variable table, certainly the ID column and probably the UNITS
column as well. I suspect you can use this NCEP's ops table to figure out
the "ID" of each variable:

     http://www.cpc.ncep.noaa.gov/products/wesley/opn_gribtable.html

But read this about inconsistencies between operational and reanalysis
tables:

http://www.cpc.ncep.noaa.gov/products/wesley/opn_vs_reanal_gribtable.html

Wes: is this table understood by WRF?

Once you have a candidate table, rerun lats4d providing this table.

Disclaimer: I've never prepared WRF files myself. If you are successful,
could you please post the detailed procedure to gradsusr?

   Good Luck,

      Arlindo
