segmentation fault (IP vs DNS)

Dear Listeners,

I am new to GRADS but my problem seems very basic.
I installed full linux 1.8sl11 on Suse Enterprise Linux 10.0
When I start gradsc and say no to Landscape mode-question I get

GX Package Initialization: Size = 8.5 11
Segmentation fault

But only when my DISPLAY=DNSname:0 or ssh X11 forwarded.
When my DISPLAY=IP-address:0 it works.

An xclock works in both cases, so I presume it has nothing to do with IP-
address-lookup.

Any clues ?
