Unable to run v1.9 on Vista

You probably want to download and install the file:

grads-1.9.0-rc1.win32_superpack.zip

instead of the one you have installed: grads-1.9.0-rc1-bin-i686-pc-cygwin.tar.gz

I hope there is a fix or a tip for this.

I cannot get GrADS v1.9 to run on my Windows Vista (Home Premium) machine.

Â

Here is what was loaded and what happens.

Â

Installed superpack (morning of 1/31/08) in c:\pcgrads

            grads-1.9.0-rc1-bin-i686-pc-cygwin.tar.tar

Installed the updated executables from morning of 1/31/08

            grads-1.9.0-rc1-bin-i686-pc-cygwin.tar.tar

Set path to include c:\pcgrads\Â Â  ---Â  exclude path to c:\program files\pcgrads\

                V1.8v11 still resides in c:\program files\...

Â

Invoke grads.exeÂ

                Get window saying

                                “Sh.exe has stopped working”

                Close all that

Â

Open a command prompt window

      cd C:\PCgRADS\win32

      rxvt

Â

get an rxvt window  -  all white

Get window saying

                “Sh.exe has stopped working”

Â

All help & advice would be appreciated.
