Unable to run v1.9 on Vista

Hello,

 

I hope there is a fix or a tip for this.

 

I cannot get GrADS v1.9 to run on my Windows Vista (Home Premium)
machine.

 

Here is what was loaded and what happens.

 

Installed superpack (morning of 1/31/08) in c:\pcgrads

            grads-1.9.0-rc1-bin-i686-pc-cygwin.tar.tar

Installed the updated executables from morning of 1/31/08

            grads-1.9.0-rc1-bin-i686-pc-cygwin.tar.tar

Set path to include c:\pcgrads\   ---  exclude path to c:\program
files\pcgrads\

                V1.8v11 still resides in c:\program files\...

 

Invoke grads.exe  

                Get window saying 

                                "Sh.exe has stopped working"

                Close all that

 

Open a command prompt window

      cd C:\PCgRADS\win32

      rxvt

 

get an rxvt window  -  all white

Get window saying 

                "Sh.exe has stopped working"

 

All help & advice would be appreciated.
