Dear Stefan Gofferje,
Still now it does not work,
Perhaps I’m jumping one step, see what I have done:
I a have four files in grib format:
(a) gfs_3_2008031000
(b)fs_3_2008031006
(c)(gfs_3_2008031012
(d)gfs_3_2008031018
First step: cat gfs_3_20080310* >model.grib
Second step: grib2ctl.pl model.grib > test1.ctl
Third step: gribmap -i test1.ctl -0
The content of the test1.ctl:
dset ^model.grib
index ^model.grib.idx
undef 9.999E+20
title model.grib
* produced by grib2ctl v0.9.12.5p34c
dtype grib 255
options yrev
ydef 41 linear -40.000000 1
xdef 26 linear 30.000000 1.000000
tdef 4 linear 00Z10mar2008 6hr
zdef 3 levels

vars 2
APCPsfc 0 61,1,0 ** surface Total precipitation [kg/m^2]
VGRDprs 3 34,100,0 ** v wind [m/s]
ENDVARS
On grads:
ga-> open test1.ctl
