Folks,

As you are working on the new version of GRADS, I would like to suggest
considering the following options.

1. Adding 'NaN' as an option for UNDEF.

2. Adding color 'None' that means no shading.

For an example

-----------------------------------
set gxout shaded
set clevs -1 1
set ccols 2 0 4
d var
------------------------------------

This shades in white between -1 1 contours.

------------------------------------------------------------
set clevs -1 1
set ccols 2 "None" 4
d var
---------------------------------------------------------
This would not shade the space in between -1 and 1 leaving it 100%
transparable.

I anticipate that users could offer many suggestions. Of course, not all
of them could be easy to implement. But it might occur that some
suggestions would be worth thinking about.
