shaded plots of station data

Dear All,
          I have plotted station data using station map utility in linux
platform. By displaying my variable, I can get only values corresponding to
each station. As these values are three digit numbers, they are overlaying
and I cannot analyze them. So I prefer the contour or shaded plots. But by
setting the contour or shaded form I cannot plot the shaded values. It is
not working in station data. Can anyone help me to plot shaded form of
station data..?
