How to save the entire data file in GDS

Hi there,
I am using GrADS-DODS Server (GDS) to access some remote data sets. I
tried "lats4d -i sdfopen http://url -o test.nc" to save the entire
data file to my local computer. However I kept getting the error
message "can't open the file". However, I have no problem open the
file with "sdfopen http://url".
Also, I read I can use NCO command such as ncks to retrieve the data,
can someone tell me some detail about how to do it?
Any inputs are highly appreciated.
