Ocean/land mask

If you want to display the shading and contours over the basemap, you must
plot the basemap first, then the shading, then the contours.  And, of
course, shading has to be for a range of values that does not cover the
entire map, or the entire basemap will be hidden.

Perhaps I was confusing on my last request for help.
I would simply like to display a shaded area over both
the land and water areas. Is this something that is
possible using the basemap script ?
Any help please ?
