To follow up on Hoop’s email, I recently replaced the builds of 2.1.0 with new executables that are dynamically linked with the OpenSSL library so that GrADS would be able to open https URLs. Because libssl is not linked statically, you will need to make sure
libssl is installed on your local system. If GrADS doesn’t automatically find it, use the environment variable LD_LIBRARY_PATH to supply the right path. This will also be the case with NASA data servers, which are now using only https protocol.
