<div>With some help from the folks at NASA, we have figured out what is needed to get this authentication to work.</div>

<div>1. Make sure you are using a build of GrADS that is linked with netcdf version 4.3.3. Check the output from ‘q config’ to be sure. The recent release of version 2.1.0 for CentOS is okay, and I have just updated the OS X build of GrADS version 2.1.0. Older
releases that are not linked with netcdf-4.3.3 are returning errors. </div>

<div>2. Create a file in your home directory called .urs_cookies. It can be empty, but it must exist. </div>
<div><br>
</div>
<div>3. Create a file in your home directory called .netrc. Change the permissions so it is only readable by you. It should contain an entry like the one below with the server name and your own authentication info. </div>

<p>you should see the info page for this data set. This is what I tried with the URL below, and it doesn't work. You might try check with GSFC and see if they changed their server end points, or maybe their server is just down?</p>
