Some commands you'll want to use include<br><br></div>'set mpdraw off' so the background map is not drawn<br></div>'set parea ...' set the limits of parea to match the size of the real page (for landscape mode with no -a at initialization, that's 8.5 x by 11).<br></div>'set mproj scaled' to ensure the plotting area fills the area set by parea. For all other map projections, the actual area where data will be drawn is scaled to fit the aspect ratio of the dimension environment.
