    I think the extra steps you list are only needed if you draw the
    map.&nbsp; In Christopher's case with "mproj off" and "mpdraw off" (ditto
    labels/grids, etc.), all you need to do is specify the parea.&nbsp; So,
    if you start grads in landscape, "set parea 0.0 11.0 0.0 8.5" added
    to Christopher's script will make a image without a border.<br>
