Matt,<div>Thanks for the suggestion, but could not get it to work. Perhaps because I use Windows? However, I did learn that I can use "!echo $RANDOM > [textfile]" then have my script read the output file.</div>

Hi Stephen,<br><br>I've never used grads in windows but can you just write a script to capture output from the command line? From the windows cmd prompt, "echo %random%" will output and random # to STDOUT. <br>
