Adrian,<br>Define a new variable that is the same as the one you want to display, but define it on a restricted dimension environment (i.e., smaller than the actual size of your actual data domain), and display it on the original (larger) dimension environment.<br>

Your hint does not lead to a change of the problem. The map gets
bigger or smaller by setting parea, but the contour labels remain
cut at the border of the map. <br>
Maybe i have to mention, that the contours are station data, drawn
with the oacres function.<br>
<br>
Is there a way to draw the contours in a smaller area than the map
border?<br>
